This site is the brainchild of Ted Merrill (right), the physician/ fisherman/ ecologist/ philosopher/ woodcarver who wrote (or co-wrote) two of the books and most of the text you'll find here.
What you'll find here
This site is about writing and thinking, and also about writing about thinking. Ted thinks a lot (his brain is his favorite organ), and after writing his thoughts passionately on various bits of paper for most of his life, he finally retired from medical practice, acquired a computer, and began writing in earnest. His brother Bill is also avidly involved in thinking and writing; and often their thinkings and writings converge and complement each other.

What is homeostasis? (and other writings) offer Ted Merrill's views of an ever-evolving concept, the namesake of his publishing company and this site. As a philosopher, ecologist, and biologist, he offers a new, broader definition, and a concrete example of its evolution.
