Rise and Shine follows two sisters living on a 20-acre farm in Washington State during the 1930s. Although they’re only 12 and 14, they help their parents with all the daily tasks needed to keep the farm going, all while they continue attending school. This story describes life on the farm, but it’s also about family and commitment, and about parents who want their children to have more choices than they were given.
